Carcieri still supports wind farm

Governor Carcieri continued his campaign on Thursday for a proposed offshore wind farm near Block Island, this time speaking up for the project at the groundbreaking of a new “green” hotel at Quonset Point.

Carcieri was one of several public officials to appear at the ceremony celebrating the development of a 103-room Towne Place Suites by Marriott hotel in the Quonset Business Park. But the governor was the only one to use the occasion to plug the merits of an eight-turbine wind farm Deepwater Wind wants to build in waters off Block Island. Read more…
