Governors release plan to expand wind energy development
A bipartisan group representing the governors of 29 states unveiled a plan Tuesday for the federal government to boost the development of wind power across the country.
The plan drawn up by the Governors Wind Energy Coalition includes the establishment of a federal renewable-energy standard, the improvement of the nation’s transmission lines, the creation of more financial incentives for developers and the streamlining of permitting processes.
“This is all about a sense of urgency,” Governor Carcieri, the vice chairman of the coalition, said during a conference call with the media. “We need to get serious and get serious fast about energy policy, especially in regard to renewables.” Read more…
